Ghostbane is an epic fantasy and a mix of spaghetti western where cowboys die, come back as Ghosts, and fight a tyrannical immortal named The Hangman.
My Inspiration Behind Ghostbane
Ghostbane was actually one of the first book ideas I ever had as a kid. I remember stories such as Mistborn, The Hunger Games, and Star Wars: Rouge One being great inspirations for my early expereince as a writer. One thing I really loved about those stories was the idea of misfits with magical abilities fighting against a dark empire against all odds. I also also always wondered the possibilities of putting epic fantasy magic systems in a pure western world. Then the thought hit me about how western folk lore often includes stories of ghosts and outlaws fighting beyond the grave. Hence, where the idea of Ghostbane comes from.
I wanted this to be a story that evokes the stirred emotions of fighting against the evil no matter how big the odds are while also exploring very real themes of death and the fear of it.
I only hope that this book would not only be a great adventure to read but also something that can help any reader with their late night thoughts keeping them up on what would happen to them when they die.
